App Challenge

 Congressional App Challenge

All high school students from Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District are invited to participate in the 2017 Congressional App Challenge.

Officially launched in 2015, this competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM fields. It allows students to compete with peers in their own districts by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app”, for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four, as long as two of the teammates are eligible to participate in the 3rd District. Those entering the competition must submit a 1-3 minute video of their app and what they learned through the competition process on the official Congressional App Challenge website by 11 am (CST) on November 1, 2017.

The apps will be judged by a panel of Iowa Third District judges who work within the academic, software, and entrepreneurial fields.

All 3rd District participating students and teams will be invited to a special presentation of their product to the tech/entrepreneurial community at a 1 Million Cups meeting at the Des Moines Science Center in November. And, the winning student or team will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives website and displayed in a United States Capitol Building exhibit in Washington, D.C. for a year. Should you have any questions please contact Laura Hartman at my Creston Constituent Services Office at (641) 782-2495.
