2017 Year End Report

Net neutrality, what's your take?

Friends,

The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) voted on Thursday, February 26, to begin regulating how internet service providers can deliver content to users.

Some folks believe if you regulate Internet services, the cost will go up and competition will go down. Others believe that net neutrality allows for a more open internet, one that treats all online content the same.

Unfortunately, the specific rules, which go into effect 60 days after publication, have not been released. Many are eager to see these rules, including Congress so that proper oversight can be conducted.

My Statement

"The internet should not be regulated as a public utility, the internet should be free and open. Iowans sent me to Washington, DC, to work to make government more efficient and accountable. The process that delivered this decision on Thursday, February 26, lacked an open and transparent process and was made behind closed doors by three unelected bureaucrats. This is another failed example of a federal government thinking they know what’s best but completely missing."
