With a goal of protecting the personal information and savings of the people of Iowa, I founded the Bipartisan Congressional Task Force to Combat Identity Theft and Fraud in early 2016. As chairman of this group, I am dedicated to working for solutions that protect Iowans from hackers, scammers, thieves and fraudsters.
For generations, Iowans have farmed the fertile Iowa soil efficiently to deliver the best yields in the world. When I meet with agriculture producers throughout the sixteen counties of the Third District, they tell me about the strategies they’re using to maximize the land’s potential.
During my travels, meetings and visits to, and in, each of the 16 counties of the Third Congressional District each month I have the opportunity to meet with many inspiring young Iowans. I am consistently encouraged and inspired to see the energy and talent of our state's youth.
One of the most important functions of any Congressional office, House or Senate, is the casework services provided to constituents. My staff and I know Iowans call, visit and email one of my four Constituent Services Offices when they have hit a roadblock with Social Security, the IRS or renewing a passport.
As the co-founder of the bipartisan Congressional Task Force to Combat Identity Theft and Fraud, I am constantly receiving information and tips about the ever-growing list of scams targeting Americans – and especially college students.
In July, I held three Iowa Senior Wellness and Security Expos throughout the Third District. At each Expo, representatives from dozens of local, state and federal agencies and organizations were on hand to provide seniors and their supporters with valuable information about the services and assistance available to Iowa seniors.
If you’re wired into social media, the internet, 24-hour cable news or talk radio, you would think the only things coming out of Washington, D.C. this year are President Trump; Russia; controversy; investigations; protests; anger; and gridlock.
Human trafficking is a horrific activity that destroys lives.
Over the past three years the U.S. House of Representatives has enacted legislation to fight the crime and help victims of the crime.
There is a famous quote attributed to John Lennon that is, “life is what happens to us when we are busy making other plans”. Often when talking with veterans of our armed forces, this sentiment enters the conversation when discussing unexpected life paths after active duty – especially when it comes to their educational pursuits.
Council Bluffs resident Sarah Root had just graduated from Bellevue University with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
