On one of my many school visits, I visited an elementary school here in the Third District. I sat with students during their breakfast and when the bell rang, signaling the time to head to their classroom, I watched students walk to the garbage can and dump trays full of food into it.

This past week was National Small Business Week and I visited small businesses across the Third District. I spoke with small business owners, employees, and community leaders seeing the benefits of tax relief firsthand. From bonuses to wage increases to business expansion, Iowa communities are feeling positive effects of Iowans keeping more of their hard-earned dollars.
Today, Congressman David Young and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) launched a House Food Waste Caucus to explore opportunities to reduce food waste.
Iowans and Americans across the country are optimistic about the economy. Large and small businesses are giving bonuses to workers, expanding their operations with new workers, and upgrading their equipment. While we continue to make great strides, more must be done to help our farmers and agriculture community.
Iowa Congressman David Young joined Rep. Glenn Thompson (PA-05) and Rep. Jim Langevin (RI-02) to introduce the FFA Charter Amendments Act which will modernize the National FFA organization to better reflect agriculture education in the 21st Century.
Iowa Congressman David Young continues his schedule of hosting open meeting events with his constituents with additional Open Office Hours events in April and May.
