TOP LINE:

  • TWO OF YOUNG'S BILLS ON THE FLOOR THIS WEEK: Two of Congressman Young's bills are scheduled to be on the House floor this week. The Justice for Victims of IRS Scams and Identify Theft Act of 2018 is scheduled for a vote on Tuesday and the IRS FAST Act is expected to be rolled into the 21st Century IRS Act on Thursday. 
  • FIRST QUARTER ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Congressman Young has been hard at work for Iowans. In his weekly report to constituents, he shares some of his successes like his bill, the Rural Call Quality and Reliability Act, becoming law, securing a solution to the grain-glitch, and his efforts to address mental health.   • LAST DAY OF AN OUTDATED TAX CODE: Tomorrow is Tax Day which means it will be the last day of an old, outdated, and out-of-touch tax code. Learn more HERE.
  • ART COMPETITION SUBMISSIONS DUE NEXT MONDAY: The annual Congressional Art Competition is underway and submissions for the Third District are due on April 23. Read more HERE.
  • FY19 APPROPRIATIONS: The House Appropriations Committee, which decides how the federal government spends money, is continuing the FY19 appropriations process this week. As Iowa's only member on the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Young is scheduled to participate in seven hearings with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, the FDA, Office of Public and Indian Housing, U.S. Courts, and the General Services Administration. 
  • PRESS THIS WEEK: On Wednesday, Congressman Young is scheduled to join KCSI live at 7:18 a.m., and KMA live at 7:35 a.m. 

MONDAY, APRIL 16TH 
On Monday, the House will meet at 11:00 a.m. for morning hour and 1:00 p.m. for legislative business. Votes will be postponed until 5:30 p.m.
