Iowa Congressman David Young is encouraging and inviting high school and middle school students from Iowa’s Third Congressional District to participate in the Fourth Annual National Congressional App Challenge.
Acts of violence across the country devastate families and communities. In some cases, firearms are used to terrorize innocent people. As I visit with Iowans across the Third District every month, I continue to hear from law enforcement about ways to improve safety. I hear from parents concerned about their children.
Volunteer Iowa has been awarded a $192,023 grant by the Corporation for National Community Service. The grant will be used to develop and expand local volunteer infrastructure, increase the capacity of local organizations to engage volunteers, and help other service organizations better manage, train, and coach volunteers. Funds will also be used to train individuals for disaster response.
Iowa Congressman David Young led a group of 27 members of the House of Representatives in introducing a resolution (H.Res. 1066) stating Congress must support protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
The entire Iowa delegation, including Congressman David Young, Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst and Reps. Steve King, Rod Blum and Dave Loebsack, wrote to President Donald Trump in support of Governor Kim Reynolds’ appeal of the Administration’s decision denying Individual Assistance under FEMA for Buchanan, Dickinson, Polk and Winnebago counties.
Together with a bipartisan group of colleagues, Congressman David Young introduced the Protecting our Communities and Rights Act of 2018, legislation aimed at curbing gun violence. Congressman Young joined Reps.

Iowa Congressman David Young and Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson introduced the Restoring Our Commitment to Renewable Fuels Act which will reallocate waived renewable fuel obligations and require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to disclose refineries who receive "hardship" waivers.
