60 Second Survey - Should the Pentagon take money back from soldiers?
As you may know, the Pentagon ordered thousands of California National Guard members to pay back decade-old reenlistment bonuses, prompting an outpour of criticism and outrage from folks across the country. Last month, I joined 200 of my colleagues in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter demanding the Pentagon halt this recoupment of bonuses. To read more about the letter, click here.
While the Pentagon has now halted their efforts to retrieve this money, there are already service members who have returned their bonuses, and Pentagon has recovered over $22 million so far. I have called on the Pentagon to also immediately return these funds to these veterans and service members.
Do you think the Pentagon should halt these collection efforts and return the funds already paid back by service members?
